Burgers and Bar Life
Kinda late in the day, but last night I did that social-engagement-juggling thing (ie two things at once) and went to some friends' barbecue for the twenty minutes it didn't rain, and they made fab vegetable skewers and Linda McCartney veggie burgers. I realised that even on this strange food plan you can still go out and eat well. Caught up with a couple of people I hadn't seen in a while, and then met E for a drink in the bar formerly known as Cafe Rouge in Stanmore. Now it's some kind of independent generic All-Bar-One-alike; wooden floors, leather and chrome furniture, lights that dim for the watershed, and candles on the table (hence pic). E's just got engaged, so we did all the usual girly just-got-engaged stuff; rings, dresses, plans, which later seagued seamlessly into a discussion of world political affairs. We're like that.
