Saw the movie with S, usually my theatre companion, and not the S I went to Hampstead with Sunday, and followed it with curry - vegetables, again - in the Thai place across from the Odeon in Swiss Cottage. Saw a trailer for the new Incredible Hulk movie - creatively entitled HULK - which seems to have the Ready Brek glow, and noticed that the Odeon has a person-sensitive toilet; it's dark and quiet when you go in, and as soon as the room senses you, it turns the light on and plays the radio. It's kind of like an epistimelogical toilet; does the tree still exist when I leave the forest?

S regaled me with a fabulous story about she did some online dating last summer, met a great guy, exchanged phone numbers, and he said to her, "both our phone numbers start 722, where do you live" and it turned out that he lived at number 36 to her number 32 of the same street. He got terribly excited, and invited her round for sushi in two days time. The next day, she saw "him" as he had described himself to be, lovingly cleaning his car, and stopped and introduced herself. When she got home, he'd left her a message saying he'd met someone else. She was convinced now he'd seen her he thought she was a dog - I, of course, have seen her and know her to be incredibly attractive. Then he called up and said he'd changed his mind and would she come over. I didn't press her on the whole internet-dating safety issue, but she felt that as she knew where he lived - next door but one - he was relatively safe. Don't ask me why. Then he said his Mother was over, and would S wait till she'd gone? She sat around, feeling kinda used for a little while, and then she got a better offer; some friends called and said come to the pub. She was just driving off in the car as he waved goodbye to his Mother. He stood there, open-mouthed, surprised that she was leaving. Apparently, they've not hung out since. He may not be an axe-wielding murderer, but he sure is indecisive. Online dating's not so much dangerous as dull, sometimes.
