I am one of those people. And one of the things I dislike about living in a democracy is that I do have to follow the rules, even if they piss me off.
I learned a good thing from M, my career mentor. She used to say, when asked about something tangentially ethical "what would happen if everyone did it?" I mean, I'm sure there'd be health and safety concerns, statistically, about everyone driving seven miles faster, but does it have to cost me forty quid a time? I'd prefer road fines to be means tested on mileage: I only do about five thousand miles a year, so proportionally, because I live in an urban centre heavy on camera technology, I'm paying way over the odds.
