OK, so there are some new rules. I know online is supposed to be the last bastion of the free world, borderless anarchy blah blah gah. Sort of. But I think I need to "make some suggestions of how we might do things differently" as they say nowadays. Whoever they are. Let's just call them the new rules of engagement. Though obviously we're not engaged:
- Do comment. As much as you want. The interactivity of weblogging gives me a buzz, and without a buzz, I'm less inclined to do this
- Although, I probably will still do it, just in a different sort of way
- There is a third thing. Oh the joy of HTML numbered lists
- If you know me in "real life" and run into me at a party/in the street/at The Tricycle don't (a) look at me like you know all my secrets, because you don't, or (b) behave oddly
- If you don't know me, but then you meet me, please don't quiz me about things I've written
- If you've never met me, please don't presume you know everything about me just because you read something here
- If you do know me, please don't call me and say "I know you're home, I just saw you post". I might be at a friend's. I might have an automated posting script. I may not want to be tracked down to the ends of the earth
- And if you know me, please moderate the number of times you refer to my weblog in any conversation. And please call it a weblog - not a blog, or "sashinka" - although I will not, obviously, be keeping contemporaneous notes
- Stop telling me my design sucks and has readability problems. I know. I'm working on it. My CSS skills are getting better daily, and one day soon I'll reveal a new weblog to the world. Until then, shut up about it
- Just be gentle with me
I know, I know. It doesn't really matter. It's only a weblog. I just wanted to clear out some residual crap on a better-out-than-in basis. Could be wrong.
