The tyranny of real-time possibilities means I have to write right now about the NTK thing.

A very buzzy, grass-roots, frankly male feeling when we got to the Camden Centre. And a breath of fresh air compared to the more mundane events I used to run for a living.

The sight of a range of geeks caressing their laptops and other technology like they were women - or men - and putting faces to names/online identities was very interesting.

I'm too tired now to process my thoughts, so here's my top ten phrases/ideas/highlights:

1 "automota are the ancestors of computers" - Tom Standage
2 "software is brittle". can't remember who. Brittle, like nails? You can get a manicure for that.
3 "blogging is just literary wanking - a few links and a couple of nice phrases" - Ben Hammersley. Maybe it is, Ben, but I'm not getting paid, so I guess I can do it like that if I want to.
4 Cory - I think - said "blogging is writing fast and iteratively". My take; it can be, if your blog is about developing your views on a topic. Not if its telling tales, however.
5 Cory - "The largest content companies are the phone companies. Because the lowest quality content is the human voice". So, we're our own content? I'm starting to look at myself in a new way already
6 "Google rewards ubiquity over quality" can't remember who said this so succintly. I've known it for ages, just never put it quite so well.
7 Talking to Cal/Tom about a London bloggers map/community building idea. I love it.
8 Running into people from all over my life - Mike, Yoz, Rich. Real life, real-time convergence. Cool.
9 Hanging out with Anna

Of course other people - real journo types - have said good stuff too: Tom, Cory, Ben

I guess my life has been microsoft-stylee, up until now. But I'm ready for this new open-source way of doing things.
